Henry Aiken Anderson was born at Mangalore, East Indies, on 22 February 1851, son of Findlay Anderson, Madras Civil Service. He was educated at the Edinburgh Academy and Repton. He passed the final examination for Indian Civil Service in 1873 and commenced Inddian service on 13 November 1873. Served on Waziristan Afghan Boundary Delimitation Commission 1894-95 (Medal with Clasp, Waziristan 1894-95; Medal with Clasp, Punjab Frontier 1897-98); Commissioner for Derajat and Jullunder Divisions, Punjab, 1899-1906. Created Companion of the Order of the Star of India, C.S.I., 1897, for service on Waziristan Afghan Boundary Delimitation Commission. He retired in 1906 to live in Edinburgh, where he died on 21 December 1936.
