Special Collections
This collection of 70 17th century tokens of Cornwall, formed over the past three decades, includes many pieces from the important Bell collection, dispersed almost exactly 14 years ago. Despite paperback county studies by John Williams (1971), and then a joint work by Williams and the former RAFVR Flying Officer John Mayne (1985), no proper illustrated catalogue of the Cornish series has yet been published. Mr McCarthy is aiming to compile such a work, and to this end has kindly made available to the cataloguer background notes on almost all the issuers, much of which is quoted here.

His Will, dated 1663 but not proved until 1686, left his new house and land to his wife, but everything else, including the rest of his lands, goods, chattels and shop wares to his son, William
