William Penhalurick was valued at £10 in 1660 and paid a poll tax of 4 shillings. In 1661 he served as Mayor of Helston and contributed £1 towards the Free & Voluntary Present. A tin merchant, he featured in the coinage records of 1663. The British Museum has a passport, dated 1648, entitling a William Penhaluricke (perhaps the issuer’s father) to pass from the mainland to the Scilly Isles and Jersey.
