Thomas Bewes, son of John and Ann, was baptised on 28 July 1630 at St Stephens-by-Launceston. In 1660 he paid poll tax of 8 shillings on his estate and 1 shilling for the poll. In 1661 he contributed 10 shillings towards the Free & Voluntary Present. He served five terms as Mayor of Launceston, 1664-5, 1674-5, 1681-2, 1688-9 and 1695-6
