Clarendon House, built in the mid-17th century at a cost of over £40,000, was situated on the north side of Piccadilly, adjacent to Old Bond street and close to the former offices of Dix Noonan Webb Ltd. Samuel Pepys described it as “the finest pile I ever did see in my life.” It was demolished in 1683
