John Edward North, born and enlisted Shoreditch, Middlesex, 9th Battalion, killed in action 25.9.1915, France & Flanders. Sold with 9 pages from the War Diary detailing operation by the battalion on 25th September. The last page lists officer casualties and states that when the battalion left the trenches, its strength was only 4 Officers and 140 Other Ranks.
