George Cotton, who lived at Romford, ordered the Hornchurch tokens from Matthew Boulton in 1795 (cf. Doty, CTCJ, June 1999, pp.20-4); it would appear that a total of 63 ‘specimens’ [or Proofs] were supplied to Cotton
