Military General Service 1793-1814, 2 clasps, Fort Detroit, Chrystler’s Farm (J. St. Etienne, Canadn. Militia) with original named card box of issue, this rather tatty, otherwise dark toned, nearly extremely fine and extremely rare £10000-12000

Ex Spink 1973.

John St Etienne is confirmed on the rolls by Barbara M. Wilson, of Ottawa, as having served with the Voltigeurs of the Militia of Lower Canada. Wilson lists only two other recipients of multi-clasp medals for North American actions amongst the Canadian recipients, a further two being noted by Mullen but these are both questionable. In addition, Joseph Sterland of the Royal Artillery uniquely (to the British Army) received the medal with clasps for Fort Detroit and Chrystler’s Farm.
