Richard Wright, numismatist and antiquarian, acquired a portion of the private museum formed by his grandfather, Richard Greene (1716-93), an eccentric Lichfield apothecary and surgeon, in 1800. The contents of the museum, which included artefacts donated by Samuel Johnson and Matthew Boulton, were auctioned on behalf of Wright by Mr Harris in London in August 1821 (Brooke, CTCJ March 1998, pp.21-4)
