Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 1 clasp, Tamaai (15572 Gun. J. Davies, M/1st Bde. R.A.) some contact marks, very fine £180-220
James Davies was born in Kirkcudbright, Scotland in 1849. A labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Artillery at Mold, Denbighshire, Wales in 1868, having previously served in the Flint Militia. With the Royal Artillery he served in India, 1869-84 and Egypt, 19 February- 21 April 1884. For the latter service he was awarded the Egypt Medal with clasp for Tamaai. He was discharged at Ipswich on 29 November 1887. Sold with 10 sheets of copied service papers.
