Major RoIf Sumner Gibson, R.M., served on secondment with the Egyptian Army from 13 September, 1912. He was one of approximately 15 British Officers to take part in a patrol of Camelry under Captain B. H. S. Romilly, D.S.O., Scots Guards, dispatched to punish the Nubas for cattle thieving, in March, 1914. He was awarded the Order of the Nile in 1922.
