Pair: Private Alexander Michie 42nd Royal Highlanders, killed in action at Tel-el-Kebir

Alexander Michie was born in the Parish of Keith, Banff, and enlisted into the 42nd Highlanders at Aberdeen on 7 November 1865, aged 20. He served in the Ashantee campaign of 1873-74, and in Egypt in 1882. Private Alexander Michie was killed in action at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir on 13 September 1882. The Royal Highlanders had three officers, the sergeant-major, one sergeant and eight rank and file killed at Tel-el-Kebir, besides about 40 wounded.
