The Prince of Wales’s Loyal Volunteers, silver-gilt prize medal, the reverse inscribed ‘Presented by Captain Drummond to Williiam Winter of the First Company for the best Shot at a Target on the 2nd Day of May 1804’, contained in contemporary red leather case, test mark to reverse, otherwise good very fine and rare £200-250

Raised in September 1803 by Lieut-Colonel Commandant Miles Peter Andrews and Lieut-Colonel Sir Walter Stirling, Bart. Charles Drummond was the senior Captain. As London based volunteers were not converted to Local Militia in 1808, the unit continued serving until about 1815. See also Lot 1557.
