Adam Armstrong was born in and enlisted at Carlisle. Serving with the 5th Battalion Border Regiment he was killed in action on 1 October 1918. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, Pas de Calais, France. Memorial Plaque in original card and (damaged) paper envelopes, addressed to ‘Mrs Ada Armstrong, 13 South Street, Carlisle’.
