A rare and interesting series of combat reports, official signals and messages contemporary to the fall of France and Battle of Britain Period, comprising completed “Form F” combat reports (6), on green paper (and one on blue), the whole relating to engagements fought over Kent by the following pilots of No. 151 Squadron on 24 August 1940: Wing Commander F. V. Beamish, Squadron Leader E. B. King (killed in action six days later), Flying Officer K. H. Blair, Flight Lieutenant R. L. Smith, Pilot Officer J. L. W. Ellacombe and Pilot Officer F. Czajkowski; together with official ‘Message Forms’ (7), sent by the Signal Office at R.A.F. Hawkinge to H.Q. No. 11 Group (R.A.F. Form 96 or 96a types), each with a summary of enemy activity and resultant combats, with successive reference numbers IG/M1 to 7, the whole sent on 23 May 1940; and a large selection of typed (or carbon copies thereof) ‘Intelligence Patrol Reports’ or ‘Composite Reports’ (12), these largely on unmarked / untitled paper, but with occasional date stamp, and once again detailing combats and resultant statistics of overall losses and gains, etc., quite a few of them relating to the activities of No. 56 Squadron while operating out of the North Weald sector July-August 1940, generally in good condition (Lot) £200-300
