The letter part printed and part handwritten is addressed to ‘Mrs Eliza Brown, 29 Franklin Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.’, and reads, ‘Mrs Brown, I am directed to transmit to you herewith a Medal which has been granted to the late No. 2775 Private W. Brown of the 3/Rifle Brigade to be kept as a memorial of his services in India 1897-98 ...’ Signed ‘Evelyn Wood A.G.’ Sold with an associated (?) envelope. Also with copied roll extract confirming the medal and clasp; the recipient marked as ‘deceased’.
