George Margill Dobson was born on 11 April 1861. After qualifying as a M.B. he entered the Army in January 1885 as a Surgeon, afterwards Surgeon-Captain, in the Medical Staff Corps. With them he served in the Sudan campaign, 1885-86 and in Lushai, 1892. Promoted to Surgeon-Major in March 1897, he was placed on Retired Pay in 1905. He was employed when on the Retired List at Shrewsbury, 1908-09 and re-employed in the R.A.M.C. during the Great War.
