M.C. London Gazette 27 July 1916. ‘2nd Lt. Donald Patrick MacIver, 12th Bn. Arg. and Suth’d. Highrs. (attd. 11th Bn.)’ ‘For conspicuous gallantry and detirmination. When the enemy had gained a footing in our lines and had erected a barricade, he attacked them with such vigour that he drove them back 60 yards beyond their barricade. Though wounded in the shoulder by a revolver bullet and slightly stunned by a bomb, he continued bombing till too stiff and faint for further activity’.
