France, c.1900. France. “Chiens de Chasse”, a pair of uniface bronze plaquettes by Victor Peter, 60 x 29mm (PPE 707). Extremely fine, with a few trivial spots of verdigris
Victor Peter (1840-1918), a friend and collaborator of Alexander Falguière, became professor of sculpture at the School of Fine Arts in 1901. He wrote [to Forrer] that “a fine horse deserves our admiration as much as the human figure and one may put as much talent into a medal as a bust or statue”
