Waterloo 1815 (Corp. William Clark, 1st Batt. 52nd Reg. Foot) with replacement silver straight bar suspension, inscribed, ‘Peninsula’, edge bruising and contact marks, good fine £1400-1800

William Clark was born in the Parish of Alferton, Debyshire. He enlisted into the 52nd Regiment at Battle, Sussex on 25 May 1804, aged 19 years. Serving in the Peninsula War, he was wounded through the neck and through the body by a bayonet at Badajoz, 5 April 1812. He served at Waterloo and was discharged on 24 June 1817 as a consequence of the reduction of the establishment. Sold with copied discharge paper.
