Gamble, 70mm; Department of Science and Art, Queen’s Medal, by W. Wyon, bronze, 55mm (awarded 1878); Crystal Palace Co, Sydenham, bronze prize medal by G.G. Adams, 63mm (awarded 1896 for Strutt’s picture ‘Watching for Stragglers’) (cf. BHM 2545, 2964; cf. E.1485, 1511, 1622). Extremely fine and better, all in original cases of issue (3)
William Strutt, RBA, FZS, Devon-born artist (d.1915); lived at Wadhurst, Sussex. Studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris; gold medal winner at the Adelaide Exhibition, 1887; bronze medals won at the International Exhibitions in London and Crystal Palace
