John Carre Snelling Hadaway was born in April 1898, being commissioned into the Indian Army in January 1917, with whom he served until his retirement in 1947, by which time he had attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Sold with confirmation that Major J. C. S. Hadaway was taken prisoner of war after the fall of Singapore in 1942, at which time he was serving with the 2/14th Punjab Regiment.
