Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (710 Pte. C. Vanner, 2-13th Foot) good very fine £80-100
Charles Vanner was born in Newchurch, Ryde, Isle of Wight. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for service with the 13th Regiment at Gosport on 25 August 1858. With them he served in the Cape of Good Hope, Mauritius and India. He was discharged on 11 October 1879 at the termination of his second period of engagement having been awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. with Gratuity. His intended place of residence was 25 Preston Place, Ryde, Isle of Wight. Sold with copied discharge papers.
