Frederick William Horspool, from 4 Nugent Street, Khyber Pass, Auckland, New Zealand, served as a Gunner in the Field Artillery. His son:
Sub-Lieutenant Graham Neil Horspool, R.N.Z.N.V.R. was killed in action on 29 April 1945 whilst serving on the frigate Goodall. The ship was torpedoed by a German submarine in the Kola Inlet whilst escorting a convoy to North Russia. Six officer and 92 ratings aboard her were killed. The ship was one of the last Royal Navy vessels to be lost in the European theatre of operations during the Second World War. With a modern photograph of the Goodall.
