A batch of 50 medals and clasps ‘Dawkita’ was struck at the Royal Mint and sent out unnamed to West Africa in June 1909. It is thought that these medals were for those troops who had been present in the action at Wa and who were not considered to be eligible in the first batch of 42 awards.
