James IV (1488-1531), Light coinage, Groat, Edinburgh, mm. crown on obv. only, tressure of seven arcs, small trefoils on all cusps, medieval 4 at end of legend, rev. three pellets in first and fourth, mullets in second and third quarters, star stops both sides, 2.27g/6h (Bateson, Coinage in Scotland, p.69, fig. 88, this coin; SCBI 35, 844; B –; S 5338). Weak patch on obverse, fine, reverse better, very rare £300-400
