M.S.M. London Gazette 3 June 1919. ‘... in recognition of valuable services rendered with the British Forces in the Balkans’.

Serjeant Melville T. Phillips, South Wales Borderers, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 5 September 1915. In November the same year he was posted to Salonika. Phillips was awarded the M.S.M. for his services in the Balkans. Transferred to Army Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 7 February 1919. With copied m.i.c.
