Barnsley Tribute Medal, circular silver medal, 42 mm, finely pierced and cut-out with the public arms of the town, the reverse with finely engraved inscription ‘Presented by the Mayor & Corporation of the Borough of Barnsley to Pte. John Dunn, for services rendered during the war in South Africa, Aug. 22. 1902’, with maker’s marks and hall marks for 1902, fitted with integral loop for suspension and contained in a fitted case, a little polished and the engraving weak in places, therefore nearly very fine and very rare
Ref. Hibbard A1. Apparently only the second example known of this rare Tribute Medal.
