Private David Bryce, 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 23 August 1914. Transferred to the Royal Engineers on 17 August 1915. As a Sapper in the 179th Tunnelling Company R.E. Bryce died on 4 July 1916, aged 33 years. He was buried in the Albert Communal Cemetery Extension.
