Glasgow Franchise Demonstration Badge 1884, ornate oval, 100 x 50mm., silver base metal, bearing the Arms of Glasgow and the cypher ‘GLA’ (Glasgow Liberal Association) pin-backed, good very fine, scarce and interesting £150-200

The badge relates to a major demonstration held in Glasgow on 6 September 1884 in support of expanding the rights to vote to a greater percentage of citizens - both men and women. An estimated 50,000 men and women marched in the demonstration as part of a country-wide wave of action demanding ‘Suffrage or the Franchise for All!’
