18th Century Tokens, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Thomas Welch, Penny, 1799, from the same dies as previous, edge on demand i promise to pay the bearer one penny, 27.16g/6h (DH 28a, recorded from this piece). Described by Dalton & Hamer as an ‘artist’s proof’; test cuts on edge, extremely fine with some original colour, of the highest rarity; possibly only one other specimen known £600-800
