D.C.M. London Gazette 2 February 1916:

‘For conspicuous gallantry at Anzac on 10th August 1915. He was the only man left of his machine-gun section, but continued to work it single-handed till the Turks were nearly on him, when he destroyed the gun.’

Samson Bowers entered the Gallipoli theatre of war on 7 July 1915. He later transferred to the Machine Gun Corps (No. 56499).
