William Chapman Tyler was born in Colebrook, Hampshire and enlisted at Winchester. Serving with the 1/4th Battalion Hampshire Regiment, he entered the Asiatic theatre of war on 18 March 1915. He was killed in action in Mesopotamia on 24 February 1917. His name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial.

Frederick Chapman Tyler was born in Hyde Close and enlisted at Winchester. Serving with the 15th (Service) Battalion Hampshire Regiment he was wounded in France. He died of his wounds at home on 13 June 1917 and was buried in Winchester (West Hill) Cemetery.

The two were brothers.
