D.C.M. London Gazette 3 October 1918. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This non-commissioned officer led his platoon in four counter-attacks, the fourth of which drove the enemy out of the positions they had gained. His platoon suffered heavy casualties but he never wavered in his determination and led his men forward at each attack with great dash.’
Lumley came from Leadgate, Co. Durham. With copied m.i.c. and citation.
