Restall, engraved scene of a swimming dog in the act of saving a man’s in open sea , boat behind and birds above, all enclosed in a wreath, reverse legend in 12 lines, This Medal Is Publicly Subscribed & Presented to Mr. Nelson Francis, For His St. Bernard Dog Jim, or Saving Three Lives, Two At Brighton, 1891, One At Margate, 1892, Owners Nelson Francis & W. Grimes, London, 64mm. With clip and ring for suspension, minor knocks on edge, otherwise about very fine and very rare (£200-250)

A very interesting medal which would undoubtedly be worthy of further research
