Charles Steward (or Stuart) Dudlow Wildes was born on 17 December 1875. He received a commission with the Royal Scots on 22 July 1896 before transferring to the Indian Army; arriving in India on 2 October 1896. As a Captain in the Suppy and Transport Corps he served in the operations in Abor country 1911-12. During the Great War he served in the Egypt theatre of war, arriving at Suez on 16 November 1914. For his services in Egypt he was mentioned in the despatches of Major-General Alex Wilson, Commndering Canal Defences (London Gazette 21 June 1916). Afrter the war he saw service in the Third Afghan War. With copied m.i.c., gazette extracts and other research.
