Joseph Albert Brandon was born in Collingwood, Ontario, on 17 March 1888. Enlisting in the 157th (Simcoe Foresters) Battalion at Collingwood on in June 1916, he was serving with the 123rd Battalion, Canadian Pioneers, C.E., when he died of wounds on 22 October 1917. The relevant official casualty report stated ‘Died of wounds (Shrapnel wound right thigh) at No. 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station’. He was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium; sold with copied service papers.
