Harry Parkes was born in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, on 1 July 1890. A Mechanic by occupation, and a former member of the 6th (Volunteer) Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, he enlisted in the 32nd Battalion at Winnipeg in December 1914. Subsequently transferred to the 2nd (Eastern Ontario) Battalion, he was killed in action on 7 October 1916, during the battle of Regina Trench. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial; sold with copied service papers.
