Thomas Sands Leeman was born in George Town, Prince Edward Island, on 20 February 1894. A Carpenter by occupation, he enlisted at Calgary in May 1915. Wounded at Hooge when hit by shrapnel in the shoulder on 11 June 1916, while serving in the 31st (Alberta) Battalion, he returned to duty, but was severely wounded on 11 September 1916, and died on the 24th. His name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial; sold with copied papers and The C.E.F. Roll of Honour entry, which states he was killed in action.
