Clifford George Burrows was born in Treherne, Manitoba, on 2 February 1899. A Grocer by occupation, he attested for the 61st (Winnipeg) Battalion in September 1915, giving his date of birth as February 1898. Arriving in England in April 1916, he was transferred to the 44th (Manitoba) Battalion and proceeded to France. Awarded the M.M., he was killed in action on 27 September 1918, aged 18 years, and was buried in the Quarry Wood Cemetery, Sains-les-Marquion, Pas de Calais, France. Burrows was the son of William John and Margaret Burrows, of 300 Inkster Boulevard, Winnipeg, Manitoba; sold with copied service papers and a modern photograph of his headstone.
