Francis William Laskey was born in Montreal on 19 May 1879. A Fireman by occupation and having had six years service in the 1st Prince of Wales Fusiliers (Volunteers), he enlisted in to the 138th Battalion at Edmonton in March 1916. Posted to the 49th (Edmonton) Battalion, he was killed in action at the battle of Passchendaele on 30 October 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the husband of Elizabeth Maria Laskey, of Carrot Creek, Alta; sold with copied service papers.
