Francis Brennan was born on 23 May 1895, the son of Francis Valentine and Sarah Ann Brennan, of Hackney. The date of his entry strongly suggests that he took part in the famous ‘Six V.C’s. before breakfast’ ‘Lancashire Fusiliers landing at Gallipoli as a member of the 1st Battalion. Later in the war he served in the Machine Gun Corps. As a Sergeant in the 12th Battalion M.G.C., he married Doris Eileen Roberts at Jubbulpore, 4 September 1920.
