Entitled to clasp dated ‘1877-8’.
Trooper Charles Haibly was killed in action at Gobatse Heights on 14 October 1878. Four officers and 14 men of the Diamond Fields Horse were killed in this successful engagement by Warren’s Field Force against the combined forces of the Griquas and Bechuanas in the area of Mokolokue’s Mountain, 12-14 October, bringing the campaign to an end.
