Afghanistan, Medals for Loyalty or Long Service (4): i. Good Conduct medal, reign of Amir Habibullah (1901-19), Persian word ‘Sadaqat’ (honesty) with traditional palace symbol of ruling Muhammadzai family; Rev: Persian inscription ‘Amir Habibullah Seraj al milat wa al din’, and lunar date 1320, with crudely fitted ring suspension; ii. Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct given by the Amir of Bokhara, ‘Bokhara i Sharif’ (Holy Bokhara) in centre, surrounded by ‘Az barai khedmat wa khayr khowai’ and lunar date 1353, fitted with small ring for suspension; iii. Badge of Loyalty (Nashan-i-Waf’a), seven-pointed silver and gilt star, undated but from the reign of Amanullah Khan (1919-29), central Muhammadzai Arg palace symbol with Arabic inscription surrounding (Koranic text); iiii. Long Service Medal (Nahan-i-Khedmat), King Muhammad Zahir Shah, silver-gilt, obverse similar to last item in previous lot, reverse with blank centre surrounded by decorated wreath and solar date 1320 (1941), complete with ribbon and prong suspension fitment, good fine or better and very scarce (4)
