India General Service 1895-1902, 1 clasp, Punjab Frontier 1897-98 (3604 Pte. G. Hunter, 11th Hussars) very fine

George Hunter was born in Pollockshaws, near Glasgow. A Miner by occupation and a member of the 4th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, he attested for regular service with the regiment on 15 June 1892. He transferred to the 11th Hussars in September 1892 and served in India, January 1893-October 1899. Twice tried by District Court Martial, once in July 1893 and imprisoned and again in December 1896 - for ‘Insubordination - Disobedience of Orders’ and again imprisoned. He then served in Egypt, October 1899-March 1901 and South Africa, March 1901-August 1902. Transferred to the Army Reserve in August 1902 and was discharged on 14 June 1904. With copied service papers and roll extracts. Entitled to the Q.S.A. 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 - these shown on the roll of the 8th Hussars.
