Ernest Samuel Frank Smith was born on 1 September 1914. Employed as a Civil Service Clerk, he enlisted into the R.A.F. on 1 September 1932 as a Fitter of Aero Engines. Served in N.W. Europe in the latter part of the Second World War. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal in September 1949. Served in Malaya and was mentioned in despatches for his services there. Discharged in August 1956; he died in Truro in 1979.
