Sold with a hand-written note “Two bronze medals struck by the City of Paris and presented to each member of the Imperial Family to commemorate the bringing home to France of the body of Napoleon I from St Helena. (Formerly the property of Prince Lucien Bonaparte)”

Prince Louis-Lucien Bonaparte (1813-91), philologist and politician, third son of the Emperor Napoleon’s younger brother, Lucien Bonaparte. Born in England, he returned in the early 1850s and lived the rest of his life in London
