Barton’s Fusilier Brigade comprised 2nd Royal Fusiliers (27 men); 2nd Royal Irish Fusiliers (20 men); 1st Royal Welsh Fusiliers (one officer and 25 men) and 2nd Royal Scots Fusiliers (one officer and 25 men).
Thomas Wedge, who enlisted in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in October 1891, aged 18 years, served variously in India, Malta, Crete and Egypt, in addition to participating in operations in Barton’s Fusilier Brigade during the Boer War. He was transferred to the Army Reserve in May 1903 and settled at Rodington, Shropshire, where he was employed as a railway worker for nearly 30 years; sold with local newspaper obituary notice and copied research, the latter including medal roll verification.
