Timothy Coyle was born in 1794 and enlisted as a Boy for the Artillery of the H.E.I.C. Bengal Army at Calcutta on 14 May 1806. Advanced to Bugle Major, 4th Battalion Artillery, he transferred to the 1st Artillery Company of the European Invalid Battalion in 1845. He served during the Indian Mutiny, and died at home in Chunar, India, on 3 May 1863.
