Victor, 4 dies in tenement blaze terror.

'A Mother with face and leg burns was homeless last night-not knowing her four-year-old son had died in the blaze that swept through her home. Little Victor Kimmett, of Mansion Street, Possilpark, Glasgow, died despite efforts by neighbours and firemen. Last night after fire chiefs, gas and electricity board officials examined the first floor room and kitchen, a police spokesman said: 'A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in the morning'. The dead child's parents, Mr. William Kimmett (43), wife Jessie, and their eight other children, were led to safety in their nightclothes. Last night Mrs. Kimmett's mother, Mrs. Helen Cunningham, of nearby Fruin Street said: 'Jessie is too ill to be told Victor is dead'. Her husband said he would break the news to her later when her injuries improve.'Hero of yesterday's blaze was unemployed crane driver Andrew Reid (37), of Coupar Place, Townhead. He led the children and Mr. and Mrs. Kimmett to safety then tried several times to get back in to rescue little Victor. But his attempts failed and he collapsed unconscious outside the blazing house and had to be carried to safety by police and ambulance men. Fireman with breathing apparatus reached Victor but he died soon after.'
